The increasing role of the tech industries, start-up community, and the academicians’ government in 2019 made Quantum Computing “Mission of National Importance.”
The rapid progress of other big power in the world demands the sky-rocketed development in Quantum Computing. Moreover, it is vital to safeguard ourselves from cyber threats. Hence the research and infrastructure development have accelerated for the past two years. There are more than 100 projects already instrumental in finding a way to commercialize Quantum technology aided by the government.
The government has put every effort into developing the necessary infrastructure in the country through the Quantum Information Science and Technology (QuST) program and National Mission on Quantum Technologies & Applications (NM-QTA). The plan to build a high-level Quantum computer with sophisticated Quantum clocks, Quantum communication, and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) is already in place. The start-ups are expected to play a major role in this!

#In Madhya Pradhesh at Mhow’s Military engineering institute, there is a Quantum Computing lab paired along with an AI lab. It is set up in Dec 2021 and supported by NSCS (National Security Council Secretariat).
# To utilize the efficiency of QKD, a Quantum communication lab was established in Oct 2021 at C-DOT (Center for Development of Telematics), which is capable of handling more than 100km of Optical fiber.
# A collaboration between the DIAT (Defense Institute of Advanced Technology) and C-DAC (Centre of Development of Advanced Computing) exists to create Quantum Computing.
# The I-HUB Quantum technology foundation is instrumental in Quantum technology enhancement.
